FAQ for Horse Owner

The primary objective of an effective equine sports wellness program is to stay ahead of any limiting performance issues. The primary objective of an effective equine sports wellness program is to stay ahead of any limiting performance issues. Successful management of our horse’s soundness relies on regular visual assessment and early recognition of problems. Of course most of us aren’t trained to evaluate lameness. Moreover, many of us lack the time and funds needed to schedule regular appointments with our professional caretakers (veterinarians and farriers) for the purpose of simply confirming that our horses may actually be sound. With GetSound® you can now access certified professionals from anywhere at anytime with little investment of time or money. This will enable you to detect an issue at its outset, before it becomes severe or permanent. The faster the problem is recognized, the faster your on-site professional team will be able to diagnose and treat your horse. This translates into a better prognosis for future performance.

The principle function of a professional evaluator is to provide you with valuable guidance without challenging the positions of your primary caretakers. Through the evaluation process, the evaluator will have the opportunity to refer on-site work to the local professionals in the event that further examination and/or treatment is warranted. GetSound® will notify the appropriate caretakers and send them a copy of the evaluation report for reference. In many cases, the GetSound® referral system exposes the primary caretakers to cases of lameness that may otherwise have not been scheduled.
